We don’t usually need an excuse to get out and about in the great outdoors in Bishop, but his spring we don’t need one – because these two stellar events coming up that are certain to have us all enjoying the fresh Californian air this spring!
1. Wild West Marathon
Alabama Hills, May 5
This is the third-oldest trail marathon in the United States, and it offers something for everyone, from three-mile fun-run to a 10 mile, a marathon and a 50k.
The route takes races through the great Alabama Hills and the foothills of beautiful Mount Whitney. A favorite among ultra-runners, the route includes several steady climbs and moderate declines at altitudes between 3,700 and 8,600 feet.

2. National Park Week
Yosemite and Death Valley, April 21 to 29
There is no better way to celebrate the United States’ beautiful natural treasures than to attend a national park during National Park Week, which takes place from April 21 to 29.
This year’s theme is “Park Stars” and the region’s national parks will be celebrating everything from starry skies to superstar volunteers, park features, and amazing natural resources.

And the best part? April 21 is a ‘Fee Free Day’, which means that you can explore Yosemite and Death Valley National Parks without it costing a single dime.
It’s probably best to book that Bishop getaway soon though, as there won’t be another Fee Free Day until September 22. And who wants to wait that long?
