We've been having some fantastic weather lately and it's no surprise as the Eastern Sierra enjoys some really pleasant temperatures—there can be highs of 18 degrees in March and 22 degrees in April—which means that you can get out and about and enjoy some summertime activities before the summer actually arrives.
Add to that the fact that you can escape the crowds and get some great pricing on accommodation, and you’ll understand why Bishop, California, is a great place to celebrate summer – in the cooler months!
Seriously, just check out this video…

Here are three ways to enjoy all of your favorite summertime activities in March and April…
1. Hiking and Biking
The nearby Mammoth and June Mountain Ski Areas may have plenty of snow for skiing and riding, but there's no snow down in the valley floor.  The mild daytime temperatures on the valley floor mean that this is the perfect time of year for hiking, biking, and climbing. See: There really is no need to wait around for summer!
2. Fishing
The fishing at Pleasant Valley Reservoir and on the Owens River is simply off the hook at this time of year. Or, if you’re feeling a little competitive, sign up for the Blake Jones Trout Derby. Pleasant Valley and Owens River will be filled to bursting with specially stocked fish. This year is the 50th anniversary of this highly esteemed event, and all of the action will take place on St Patrick’s Day—which is great news if you’re feeling lucky because there are $10,000 in prizes up for grabs!
3. Mule Days
Looking for a quirky event to liven things up a bit? Then check out the town of Bishop’s ‘Mule Days’. Prepare yourself for a truly unique event that is a part-mule show, part-test of skills, and part-Wild West show. Taking place May 22 to 27, this year’s event will see 14 shows featuring over 700 mules, country music concerts, dances, barbecue dinners, demonstrations and dozens of vendors selling Western merchandise. Ye-ha!

Now is a great time to book your Mule Days accommodations - book your hotel today at the Creekside Inn.
A break at the oasis retreat that is the Creekside Inn in Bishop is a great way to make the very most of an off-season getaway in the Eastern Sierra. Take a dip in the heated outdoor pool, marvel at the elegantly appointed rooms or enjoy the mouth-watering choices on offer in the breakfast room. We look forward to welcoming you soon!
