1. First Friday Night Market
Grab your wallet on Friday August 3, because Academy Street (between Main Street and Warren Street) in downtown Bishop will be transformed into a lively night market between 6pm and 9pm. You can expect to see some gorgeous handmade crafts, art and local produce, as well as plenty of wines to taste, local beers and spirits, food and music.
2. Owens Valley Radio Observatory Tour
The California Institute of Technology’s Owens Valley Radio Observatory (OVRO) is one of the largest university-operated radio observatories in the world. Known affectionately by locals as 'The Big Ears', this tour allows you to get up close and personal and learn all about the radio observatory. The event takes place on the first Monday of every month at 1pm.
3. Eastern Sierra Tri-County Fair
Taking place from August 30 to September 2, you can enjoy all of fun of the fair at the Tri-County Fairgrounds. Expect a wide selection of exhibits, displays, rodeo, carnival, stalls and a destruction derby.
4. Art in the Park
Want to see some fantastic local arts and crafts? Then make you way to Bishop City Park for Art in the Park, which takes place from August 30 to September 2. There will be dozens of booths featuring art, photography, jewelry, textiles, wood carving & turning, ceramics, fashion and food.
